AOMS can assist your company in its Respiratory Protection Program. AOMS provides Respiratory Fitness Medical Assessments and Quantitative Respiratory Fit Testing to our clients standards and as per the CSA guidelines. As part of the CSA Standard individuals tested at AOMS undertake a medical questionnaire and a PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) prior to the Fit Test being conducted. AOMS has the ability to test with a wide variety of respirators and can conduct this in-house or offsite, depending on the needs of the client.

AOMS provides pre-access, periodic, probable cause and random drug and alcohol testing for clients. All testing and procedures follow the U.S.DOT procedures for workplace drug testing. DOT drug screening is performed according to provisions of 49 CFR Part 40 amended on August 19, 1994 by the U.S. Department of Transportation. Non-DOT drug testing requested by clients will be conducted following the same procedures as the DOT-mandated specimen based on the current best practices in Canada.

Pre-Placement and periodic medical examinations should be carried out, not only on all new hires, but also in the case of job transfers or significant job changes during the term of employment. Such assessments will establish a baseline in employee health and will identify previous health hazard exposures which will accommodate the institution of baseline biological screening as per the job description. AOMS primarily provides physician based medical examinations and reporting, however in this changing health care environment AOMS does offer our Clients additional medical professional assessments to meet their individual guidelines.

Results of initial biological screening, and results of environmental monitoring (as carried out by industrial hygiene), should dictate which groups of employees will require ongoing or periodic biological screening to monitor health hazard exposure effects and lead to the development of a proper health surveillance program. Periodic job specific health questionnaires and/or Occupational Health Nurse evaluations are the most cost effective approach in this regard. AOMS works in conjunction with our Clients to develop health surveillance programs that meet their needs. AOMS also has three nurse based biological screening laboratories in our location in NL to ensure our Clients needs are met or exceeded in administering these programs.

AOMS provides 24/7/365 primary and emergency physician on call support. AOMS provides co-ordination of emergency medical services, patient stabilization, care and medical escort care en-route, via these on-call physician teams.
AOMS’ on-call physicians are all certified in emergency medicine, currently practicing, and are part of our medical evacuation team that will transport the ill/injured employee from remote scenarios. In this way AOMS’ physician based teams provide continuity of care from initial treatment to transport to emergency trauma centers as needed.

There has been a lack of continuity of care and coordination of all services in the management of injured/ill workers in the past and to some degree, in today’s system. This is evidenced by prolonged delays, waiting periods, etc., all of which has impacted negatively on the expeditious rehabilitation of injured/ill workers. AOMS believes that independent occupational medical assessments out-sourced from the workplace environment offer the optimal form of early medical intervention to provide standardized monitoring, health care and rehabilitative efforts required for the management of injured/ill employees. AOMS has a proven track record in the provision of this type of service and offers both its clinics and its network of designed physicians for such assessments and patient monitoring visits.

To accommodate clients and the general public with worldwide operations, AOMS has developed an International Travel Clinic. The Clinic is staffed with fully trained nurses, who can provide counseling and administer immunizations necessary for international travel.
Our nurses have been trained by practitioners registered with the Community Health Network. Confident in their capabilities, The Community Health now refers their clients to AOMS for vaccinations on a routine basis.
